The Original Urban Bazaar began in 2005 as a small trunk show at the Make Studio in Uptown (now located in the Bishop Arts District). With great reception for handmade product in Dallas, we decided to take this show to the streets. The first outdoor Urban Street Bazaar was in June of 2006 in Uptown with 30 vendors in art, craft, fashion and design. When you shop the Urban Bazaar you are promised a friendly atmosphere of up and coming designers and makers who are passionate about their product. You will meet the actual makers of the designs and get to know some amazing talent.
Since June of 2006 we have had 2-3 Urban Bazaars each year at locations like the Dallas Farmers Market and our Favorite Urban Dallas Neighborhoods and we host anywhere from 40-50 vendors and 15 local acoustic bands and the Project Make Fashion Show.
The Urban Bazaar now calls the Bishop Arts District Home, surrounded by Independent Businesses, Restaurants, Galleries and Shops. This district suits the local mission of the bazaar and creates athe perfect setting for this Brooklyn-esque event each season.
The Urban Bazaar is DFWs answer to the alternative art & craft DIY movement sweeping the country. The demand for hip handmade product is answered with this local shopping experience, so be sure to join us and support these local makers and creators of everthing handcrafted. Whether you are looking for unique clothing, funky jewelry and accessories or that perfect art piece for your pad, this is the place to be, because this sure ain't your Grandma's craft bazaar.
